Sugar Brown's has live jazz on Saturday mornings. We all wrapped ourselves up and rolled ourselves out of bed and braved the fog to get there. Sugar Brown's is stylish and unique.
(Check out the fog in the reflection of the "mystery window".)
I apparently value those things. They even had a "Poetry Throwdown" Saturday night. Don't think I wasn't tempted. But I didn't think it was time to ostracize myself and bring public humiliation on our group. Not. Just. Yet...
We weren't sure when the jazz began so we got there early. A little too early. For future reference, the jazz begins at 10:30am. We were there by 8, before it filled up with jazz-aholics. Those groovy hipsters.
We ordered our scones, kolaches (how crazy is THAT!?) and even cereal and chose a table.
Kolaches are Czech/Polish (Slovakian?) "cakes", or pastries that can have meat, fruit, poppy seeds, cheese in them. They are super good and we ate them all the time in Prague (obviously!).
I couldn't resist taking a picture of this sign and then proceeding to order 2 kolaches just for me. (Snort Snort). They're not Czech kolaches but they're sure good!
God works in mysterious ways because being way too early meant we had lots of quality conversation.
In the end, we sadly missed the jazz but thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere and the talk.
We met new friends even! Chatting with strangers is always fun.
Good fellowship really can't be beat. Groovy baby. Check out Sugar Brown's for a special Saturday morning (or any other) treat!
And A special happy birthday wish to my Papa today!!
