Google Reader

As you know, I love to read blogs. They're my fix of magazines, entertainment etc. but they're all free, ever changing and real.  I've shared links I love before but today I want to share how I keep up with all this madness.

I use google.com/reader which I highly recommend. I use our yahoo account and have a specific password just for google/reader. I mark it as remember password and have reader as my homepage.

Here's what it looks like.
Once you sign in, you will see a subscribe button. Simply type in your feed's url.
You will then see the newly added feed in bold with a number of unread messages in parentheses. Once you click on it, you will see the new message and pictures/videos in your main window. Once you scroll through them they will be marked as read.
If for some reason you have read them already, or don't have time and are OCD and want to try to "read" them all each day/week, there is a "Mark all as read" button for each feed. This button also works for entire folders.

If you decide you want to unsubscribe, there is a button at the top center of the screen that does that.

If you need to comment, or want to see a page's layout then you can click on the link and go back to that person's page.

Lastly, if you have enough feeds you can organize them in categories by creating folders. I have folders like: Health/fitness, Photography, Foodies, Missions/Overseas, Random etc.
If you currently type in urls or have multiple blogs bookmarked, or just want to be notified when they're updated rather than visiting a site only to see it is something you've already read, then google.com/reader is what you need!

Ps. If anyone does already use google reader and you know how to use the calendar, documents, photos tabs shown here at the top then let me know! I use it for one function only... for now!

Now I really have to go.. I have blogs to read and essays to mark. Don't be jealous!

google reader is amazing. makes procrastinating so much easier! :)

I use the calendar and documents as well, and they are very useful. You can share them with other people so they can see and/or edit them. We use Google Documents in the Humane Society so that we don't have to keep emailing the files back and forth. You just share them and then everyone can access them from their own google account. You can pick whether they can just view the documents, or if they can edit them as well. Same with the Calendar.

well, I finally succumbed and I'll admit, GR makes my life easier. :) I've spent the last day and a half though inputing all of my blogs into it. (is there an easier way?!?!)
and I wanted to come back here and let you in on a secret:
www.mattnicolosiblog.com
Perhaps the most hilarious photographer I've ever met (er....read...as I'm only a blog stalker of his)
Anyways, thought you should know of his awesomeness since you enjoy all things photographic, clever, witty, and bloggy.
