It's Summa Time Homies-First Ever CONTEST Giveaway

If you've visited this blog on this day then DO NOT CLICK AWAY.. you must take part (pretty please?) in my first ever contest give away... It's the thought that counts and boy am I thinkin'...

Okay... If you're following (bless you) then you've noticed that in my world.. IT'S SUMMER. Not just hot days, bubbling tarmac summer.. but relax your mind and don't stress every night about the day ahead summer..

And in honor of this: I'm actually looking around my home... And it ain't pretty.
...Or at least it's not perfect...

Yep.. I'm thinkin' this is going to make you guys feel a lot better about your pad.. your place.. your nest...

As you know, we moved in our home last July. We had so much going on.. Like moving into a house with 4 suitcases, finding jobs, cars etc.. then slowly, God kindly gifted us through the generous hearts of people around us, with furniture... and kitchen utensils.. Then our
mini-crate arrived from Africa with books.. And thus our house became a home. In all of the madness we left everything just as we found it.

I give you Exhibit A: The guest bathroom...
Happy ain't it?
Then Exhibit B: Guest Room 2: AKA. Sea Foam Green/Glo-in-tha-dark-Star Room...
And in our bedroom there is.. a "sunny" wall... Hmmm... yep...
And last, but most definitely not least, the TOILE WALL. Exhibit C:
Which we have chosen to keep (if you remember our debate about that).

So I'm starting in the living room.. What colors would compliment a toile wall and loads of glorious panelling???

To encourage you to give me feedback.. I'm doing my first ever contest.. However, we be hurtin' and there will be no fancy $10 Lowe's card, or a weedwacker etc.. However,  I will mail you some prize.. And I promise it won't be pocket lint (though that would be cheap to ship)...

Here are the rules:

Comment on how you would compliment a red toile entryway surrounded by a sea of paneling.

Any comment will do. I may not decide to follow any of your suggestions.. But I do promise to randomly choose one person's comment as a WINNER.

No suggestions after Friday (June 12) night 7pm. I will announce a winner Saturday afternoon.. then your glorious-less-than-$10-Lowe's-Card will be mailed to you after we exchange addies over e-mail (that sounded creepy didn't it?).

(If you're overseas you may request a favorite sweet or beef jerky for the long haul.. or perhaps macaroni n cheese, reeces peanut butter cups?? Oh you abroad are soo easy to please!).

So you're off to the races peeps.. And if no one comments (or only like 3 people) I promise to sulk for days and wonder why I'm not as cool as other people who give away say.... Barbeque pits and lawn mowers.

Ready...

Steady....

GO!!!

call me boring and crazy, but I'm going to go with antique white. let's tone down that business, shall we?
ooohhh, I hope I win. I love contests. even ones that end with a pocket full a lint!

Hooray, I'm the first! I know...that wasn't the point! Okay, I think you should mud the paneling and texture the top 2/3, then paint a cream color. Then, just paint the bottom third the same cream color and add a chair rail. I think it would compliment the french country look of the toile! I expect you to send the 'winner' a spirit stick make out of a feather duster or plunger!

You guys are hillarious! That already made it worth it.. I already don't feel like sulking. Gathering lint? Perhaps. Decorating plungers? Possibly...
Sulking- NO WAY!

Hope you feel better about your homes now!!!!

I'm excited to see what other glorious ideas come our way!

I don't know which Friday you were talking about, but I am posting anyway- not even for a prize- but my immediate reaction was antique white as well...plus some deep red accents to coordinate with the red toile? beautiful. I also LOVE the idea of doing the texture. We did it in our kitchen and it was easy- took awhile, but didn't require much skill. I would love to help you do it!

I'm seeing a theme! It's like after staring at something for so long I can no longer see anything!

Well, I thought I had a good idea but I see everyone else has the same one! In our first home, we had paneling. I grew up with paneling and never liked it. So we filled in the gaps, textured the walls and painted. That's definitely what I would do. Paint it a white, and then decorate with black accents. I love black and red together.

Side note: Thanks for the blog you passed along. I loved visiting new blogs!

Another side note: I'm also going to do a giveaway soon. Stay tuned!

I have no idea what toile is, but I once heard someone in fashion say that pink is the new black. -so how about some pink paint??

I am so glad that the winner will be drawn at random, and not based on the quality of the suggestions :)

canary yellow? :) ok, just wanted to get in on this...but i'm not feeling very inspired when i'm surrounded by wicker furniture and foam cushions. sorry! excited to see your results, though!

I think i'm boring too. But, I would too a light taupe to compliment the red/white motif. Then, you could have red accents throughout the living room to pull it all together. And, of course a giant portrait of a llama would work well too! OOOOhhhh, wait, let me guess...that's the prize!!!

I'm with Jen - paint the paneling white and then paint your furniture black. Cuz red & black go well together...and you're in Raider country!

Hey, I found you! :-)
Me... I would peel that wallpaper off and paint! Not sure what to do about the paneling, we have some in te dining room that's painted (and it's ugly!). I like Jen's idea of filling in the gaps, texturing and painting.
Good luck with your projects!
